William B. Greene, Jr. and the Board of Directors enthusiastically announce the appointment of Dale Fair as President and Chief Executive Officer of Carter County Bank. Dale will assume the position on July 1, 2012. Jim Holmes, who has held the position for 21 years, was elected Chairman of the Board for Carter County Bank beginning July 1, 2012.

“Carter County Bank, a locally owned and operated bank since 1939, has always held the belief that it is imperative for the President and CEO to be a well respected individual with expertise in the banking industry who makes their home in this community. Jim Holmes has fulfilled that role perfectly during his tenure as CEO. We are confident that there is no better person to continue that legacy than Dale Fair” said Greene, who will remain as Chairman of the bank’s holding company, Carter County Bancorp.

A native of Elizabethton, Fair attended the University of Tennessee and played football there after graduating from Elizabethton High School in 1973. After completing college, Fair was a high school teacher and football coach in middle Tennessee for several years until moving back to Elizabethton in 1981 to accept a position at Citizens Bank. In 2002, he left the banking industry to serve the needs of the community as County Mayor of Carter County. Fair held the elected position for a term of four years. In 2006, Fair accepted the position of Director of First Tennessee Human Resource Agency, which provides assistance and social services for individuals in Carter, Greene, Johnson, Hawkins, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington Counties in Northeast Tennessee.

Mr. Fair has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 34 years and together they have three children, daughter Julie and her husband Jason Harris, and sons Justin and Josh and wife Laura Beth. They also have two granddaughters, Kate and Ava. He is the son of L.D. and Peggy Fair.

“Dale brings with him 30 years experience in the banking industry and I feel confident that the leadership for Carter County Bank is in very reliable hands” stated Jim Holmes.

“It is an honor and a privilege to work with a financial institution of the caliber of Carter County Bank. The leadership of Bill Greene and Jim Holmes, along with the superb group of officers and employees will keep Carter County Bank a premier locally owned community bank” Fair stated.

Carter County Bank opened to the public on September 24, 1939 in the current location at 601 E Elk Avenue in downtown Elizabethton. Since 1961, there have only been three Chairmen of the Board: Earl Reasor, Dr. W.G. Frost and William B. Greene Jr. Jim Holmes will become the fourth person to serve in that position.
