Carter County Bank announces elementary school coloring contest winners
Last month Carter County Bank held a coloring contest in all elementary schools within Elizabethton and Carter County to promote the daylily commissioned in honor of the Covered Bridge's 125th Anniversary. "We took a drawing of a daylily along with contest details to each elementary school along with a little history lesson about the Covered Bridge", said Rebecca White, Marketing Director for Carter County Bank. "We thought it would be a good opportunity to allow children in our area to express themselves as well as inform them about our historic marker - the Covered Bridge." she said.
The contest period ran through Monday May 14, 2007. With more than 400 entries, the task of judging began. "It was so hard for us to judge all the entries because you could see the hard work that went in to each and every one." said White, "So we recruited some of the children from our employees to be our judges. I think they did an excellent job at picking entries that had heart and soul as well as creativity."
The winners for the contest included: Grand Prize winner - Sarah Bradley (Central Elementary), Most Colorful - Brogun Tipton (Cloudland Elementary), Most Creative - Erica Martinez (Harold McCormick), and Most Patriotic - Austin King (Unaka Elementary). "Our community should be proud of the work and effort all these children put forth in to the contest," said Jim Holmes, President and CEO of Carter County Bank, "we have some very creative and talented children in our City and County school systems." Contest winners were invited to receive their awards during the Covered Bridge Celebration on Carter County Bank night, Friday June 8th on stage before the music began.

Second Annual Free Shred Day
April 28, 2007

Saturday, April 28th marked Carter County Bank's Second Annual Free Shred Day. Cintas came back to our Village location on Broad Elizabethton again this year to shred more than 6500 pounds of paper that local people brought. Shredding all your personal documents before trashing them is a crucial step in protecting yourself against the threat of Identity Theft.
